GROTEWOLD (THOMAS), Tonya Helen – Passed away on January 15, 2022 at her home.
She was cremated and services will be held at a later date.
Tonya was born on January 28, 1963 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Leo and Patricia Thomas.
She graduated in 1981 from Ainsworth High School and earned an Associate Degree from Mott Community College.
She married William C. Grotewold on June 6, 2002.
Tonya is survived by her loving husband, Billy;
sons, Derick Edington and Brenden Grotewold;
grandson,Joseph Edington;
sister, Tammy Older (Don Edington); brother, Richard (Cathy) Green;
sisters-in-law, Patty Thomas, Lori (Robin) Neff and Kelly Grotewold;
numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends and a very special thank you to Renny for all her help.
Tonya was a loving wife, mother and devoted friend. She was a beautiful and wonderful person, who never met a stranger and was always the voice of reason. She enjoyed music and dancing, Bingo, watching her son and grandson bowl.
She loved animals, being outdoors, going on cruises and day trips driving around Michigan.
Tonya worked as a waitress at several south end restaurants. She loved serving people and was Waitress of the Year for Genesee County, and then Manager at Latinas for 10 years.
Tonya was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Thomas; brother, Leon Thomas; sister-in-law, Dawn Rhinehart and in-laws, William and Shirley Grotewold.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
