Brian Alan Nickels, age 56, of Flint, died Monday, September 25th, 2023 surrounded by family after a nearly two-year battle with cancer. Services will be held at 11am, Friday, September 29th, 2023 at Lake Fenton United Methodist Church, 2581 N. Long Lake Rd, Fenton with Rev. Vincent Slocum officiating. Visitation will be held 2-8pm Thursday, September 28th, 2023 at Sharp Funeral Home, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton and from 10am until time of service Friday at the church. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the family (Theresa Nickels) in this time of transition. Brian was born March 16, 1967 in Flint, the son of George and Eloise (Hugan) Nickels. He married his high school sweetheart, Theresa (Green) Nickels, on November 4th, 1989 in Fenton. Brian was a person of many talents ever the consummate handyman for his entire family and a personal cheerleader for his children and grandchildren. A truly gifted craftsman, Brian practiced fiberglass repair, fabrication, and boat building for over forty years. As a business owner, he galvanized a reputation for superior quality and affordable service alike. An avid sailor, he was an active member of the Lake Fenton Sailing Club serving on the board of directors both in the past and at the time of his passing. A man of few words but with significant meaning and intention, he was a friend to many and a resource for all. His soft kindness and consideration for others were unmatched. A fighter until the end, his determination, resilience, and love for his family will forever be remembered. Surviving are: wife, Theresa of Flint; son, Tim Nickels and wife, Hannah of Livonia; son, Brad Nickels and wife, Jessica of Swartz Creek; daughter, Heather of Flint; daughter, Elizabeth of Flint; mother, Eloise Nickels of Linden; sister, Traci Nickels and nephew Henry Nickels of Columbus, OH; much beloved grandchildren Brixton, Beckam, Eleanor, and Alan along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
