HODGKIN, Richard John - age 89, of Fenton, passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, July 1, 2021. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, July 5 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Richard's Mass will be live streamed and may be viewed at this link: https://youtu.be/yzBd4SoRRwQ or on his obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Sunday, July 4 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton with a 7:30 PM rosary; and 10-11 AM Monday at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to St. John School.
Richard was born June 14, 1932 in Lansing, the son of John and Suzanne (Chlebo) Hodgkin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Richard was a 1955 graduate of Michigan State University. Richard was a Residential Designer who owned and operated Complete Home Planning in Fenton. His family enjoyed riding around with him as he pointed out all of the homes he designed. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and was a past president of the Parish Council. Richard was also a member of the Moose Lodge and an avid golfer. His wife and 4 children were the center of his life. He knew people everywhere he went!
Surviving are: children, Karen (Scott) Burdick, David (Naomi) Hodgkin, Michelle (Craig) Elliott, John (Holly) Hodgkin; grandchildren, Eric and Kevin (Brittany) Burdick, Soni (Matt) Cummings, Zachary (Thressa) Hodgkin and Chandler Hodgkin, Katherine and Madeline Elliott, Margaret, Colin, and Skye Hodgkin; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Bryson, and Brennan Cummings, Frankie Hodgkin, John Burdick. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy in 1960; and wife, Doris in 2015 and sister Carol in 2020.
