MURTAUGH, Mary Jo – of Flint, age 77, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at her residence. A Memorial Liturgy will be celebrated 4 PM Monday, April 14, 2014 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, Rev. Fr. Andrew Czajkowski celebrant. Per Mary Jo’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to the Genesee District Library.
Mary Jo was born in Terre Haute, IN on May 14, 1936, daughter of the late Herbert and Ruth (Alsman) Atchley. Mary Jo Atchley married Leonard Murtaugh on May 25, 1957 and he preceded her in death on April 24, 2009. She worked for the Flint Public Schools as a secretary for many years. Mary Jo attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She enjoyed donating hand knit items to Outreach East and local schools.
Mary Jo is survived by her daughter, Karen Murtaugh-Morgan; son, Kevin (Sally) Murtaugh; grandchildren, Drake, Dane and Parker Morgan, Brigit Murtaugh. She was preceded in death by brother, James Atchley.
