KIDDER, Joan Judith - Age 92, of Swartz Creek, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, January 4, 2024 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Swartz Creek. Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek Wednesday from 4-8 PM and at Church Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass. A Rosary will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 7 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the Swartz Creek Food Pantry or St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
Joan was born December 3, 1931 in Ramsay, the daughter of James Henry and Alice Grace (Beaudette) Whitburn. She married Ernest W. Kidder August 28, 1948 in Flint and he preceded her in death February 10, 2010. She resided in Swartz Creek/Flint most of her life. Joan owned and operated Joan's Uniform's in Flint, Ann Arbor and Grosse Pointe for 14 years, retiring in 2000. She was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church and a former member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She was a master seamstress, crocheted prayer blankets for the needy, and an avid doll collector. Joan was a mother and friend to all.
Surviving are: her children, Michael (Sharon) Kidder of Flint, Pamela (Robert) McKee of Byron and MaryAnne (Scott) Hawkins of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Annette (Guerry), Ernie, Jr. (Nisrine), Kristina (Brian), Michael, Robert (Elizabeth), Kristen (Mathew), Ryan (Maddie), Stephanie (Steve), David (Vanessa), Lesley (James), Rachel (Chris), Alyssa (John), Karidan (Sherrow), Afton (Cory) and Cameron; 41 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter; sister, Evelyn (Ed) Hyypio of Fenton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Ernest and Craig Kidder; brothers, Robert and David Whitburn; sister, Sharon Sekora. Online tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
