Margaret would tell you we all write our own stories in life, so it was with no surprise that she passed on 05/18/2025 peacefully, at home in Grand Blanc, without any ballyhoo. Margaret was born November 16, 1933, to Harold and Helen Pardee in Concord, Michigan. Growing up on the family farm, after chores were completed, you could find her and her siblings running around the property inventing their own adventures. Indeed, right up to her passing, you could find her outside “playing in the dirt” gardening, weeding and talking to her beloved birds and flowers. She never met a sunny day she didn’t make the most of, be it by rollerblading into her 70s or walking her favorite paths into her 90s. After graduating as high school valedictorian and obtaining her Bachelor of Music at Michigan State Normal, she went on to teach music to the children of the Beecher School District. With her love and knowledge of music, she directed numerous church choirs, taught many a piano student to play, and was the backbone of the Norton Male Chorus as their accompanist from 1956-2014. She met her husband, Glenville Wayne Meade, on one of those gloriously sunny Michigan days she so loved, and soon after, on January 30, 1959, they married in Chicago, Illinois. They brought four children into the world together, and Margaret “parented” many more through her 40 plus years of running a successful daycare business. Margaret leaves behind her sons Jeffrey Meade (Leslie), and Gregory Meade (Heidi), daughters, Tamara Geiger-Stephenson and Helana Shull (Dan), her siblings Mary Johnston, Elizabeth Bickford, Genevieve Shultz, as well as a grandson and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, brothers John Pardee and Marvin Pardee. The light in the world has certainly dimmed with Margaret’s passing. She will be missed by many and remembered for always having a knitting or crocheting project at hand, a counter full of baked goods and her open heart and friendly smile for all those she met. At her request, no services are planned. |
