Dorothy I. Birchmeier, of Flushing, age 86, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at home with her family by her side. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at St. Robert Catholic Church in Flushing with Fr. Jonathan Perrotta officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church until the time of the Mass.
Dorothy was born in Maple Grove, Michigan on June 21, 1935, the daughter of Edward and Emma Yaklin. She married Rupert A. Birchmeier at St. Michael’s Catholic Church- Maple Grove in New Lothrop, Michigan on November 5, 1955. Dorothy was a homemaker, she raised eight children while helping her husband with the farm. She worked hard her entire life. Her first job was with the phone company in Saginaw to provide her parents their first car. She worked several jobs as a cook. She was a member of the Flushing Council of Catholic Women and a lifetime member of Weight Watcher and Tops.
Dorothy is survived by her seven children, several grandchildren and great grandchildren; three sisters, Jeanne, Joanne, and Marilyn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rupert; 11 siblings; her son, Douglas, and her granddaughter, Andrea. |
