TUTTLE, DR. BRUCE “LEE” – Passed away on March 15, 2022, at age 74. The son of Ernest Lee Jr. and Lillian Tuttle was born in Derby, CT. He married his sweetheart, Carol McClenahan in Centre Hall, PA on June 15, 1975.
B. Lee received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He then studied Foundry Metallurgy under “Doc” Lindsay at Penn State, earning both his M.S. and then a PhD.
Professor Tuttle, as he was known, dedicated his life to teaching engineering at Penn State University and Kettering University. He was a dedicated member of the American Foundry Society. In 1995, he received the AFS Aluminum Division Glen Stahl Service Award. Dr. Tuttle was later recognized with the Gold Medal for lifelong service to the society.
In his spare time, Professor Lee was a dedicated member of the Boy Scouts of America working alongside his lovely wife, Carol. Lee and Carol held leadership positions at the Cub Scout pack level in three packs, five troops, and at the district and council level. In 2008, Lee and Carol completed writing the “Train the Trainer and Operating Manual for Jungle Book training”, which Lee considered one of his greatest authorships. Professor Tuttle is survived by two sons, Robert and wife Jennie and Brandon; and two grandchildren, Amelia Tuttle and Liam Tuttle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and devoted wife of forty-four years, Carol.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial Visitation will be held 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Friday, April 8,2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, where friends may gather to share memories of Professor Tuttle.
