Age: 83
Community: Morrice, MI

William Calvin Rodgers, known affectionately as Cal by his loved ones, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2024, at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc. Born on the Fourth of July in 1940, in the small town of Kieffer, West Virginia, Calvin was the cherished son of the late Clarence Eward and Amanda Mae (Armstrong) Rodgers. His life was a testament to the values of family, faith, and service, which he upheld with unwavering dedication until his last breath.

Cal's journey began amidst the rolling hills of West Virginia, where he was raised alongside his 14 siblings. He is survived by; Virgie (Robert) Cords, Drema Morgan, Wynetta McKinney, Tom Rodgers, Delbert (Sandy) Rodgers, Vern (Ardell) Rodgers, Earl Rodgers, and Merl Rodgers. His life was further enriched by the joy of his children, Calvin (Lynette) Rodgers, Amanda (Duane) Helps, and Matthew Rodgers, as well as his eight grandchildren and two great-grandsons who brought him immeasurable happiness. Cal was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diana, who passed away on February 18, 2022, and his brothers Wade, James, Carl, Delmer, and Dale, and his sister Gladys Black. He carried the legacy of his parents, who departed this world in 1979, with grace and honor.

In 1963, Cal answered the call of duty and served his country in the United States Army until 1965. His patriotism was a core part of his identity, and he carried the discipline and strength he learned during his service throughout his life. On November 30, 1968, he married the love of his life, Diana Hallet, and together they built a life filled with love and mutual respect. For 35 years, Cal dedicated his professional life to General Motors, where he was not only a committed employee but also a friend and mentor to many.

Cal's interests and hobbies were as rich and varied as the life he led. He was a man who loved to tinker with things around the house, always finding joy in the simple act of fixing and improving. His green thumb was renowned within the family, and his bountiful garden was a source of pride and joy. An avid hunter, Cal found solace in the great outdoors, embracing the tranquility and challenge of the hunt. Car shows were a particular delight for him, where he marveled at the craftsmanship and nostalgia of classic automobiles.

Above all, Cal was a devoted Christian. He read his Bible religiously, finding guidance and comfort in its teachings. His faith was the cornerstone of his existence, and he lived every day with a generosity and passion that inspired all who knew him. Active in his church, he served his community with a faith-filled heart, always ready to lend a hand or offer a word of encouragement.

Generous, faith-filled, and passionate—these words best describe Cal. His legacy is one of unwavering love, steadfast faith, and a life lived with purpose and joy.

As we bid farewell to William, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that has undoubtedly found its eternal peace.
