DENISON, Nova – of Grand Blanc, age 90, passed away November 12, 2022.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, with Deacon Ron Kenney officiating.
Visitation at 10:00 am on Thursday until the time of service at the funeral home.
Born July 10, 1932, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Brice and Gertrude Sells. She graduated from Central High School, Class of 1950, Flint Junior College (earning an Associate Degree), Michigan State University (earning Bachelor of Arts Degree and Master’s Degree). She had an extensive and diversified background as an educator for forty plus years, beginning as a teacher, then becoming a teacher consultant for the Flint Community Schools and Michigan State University in the Elementary Intern program. She completed her career as a Flint Community School Administrator in the position of Staff Personnel Consultant, retiring in 1998. Upon retirement she shifted her energy and enthusiasm. She enjoyed politics, current events, line dancing, ballroom dancing, dining out, shopping and spending time with family. Among organizations in which she participated at various times are The United Teachers of Flint, The Michigan Education Association, The National Education Association, The International Reading Association, The Michigan Association of School Personnel and The Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel. She had also been a delegate to the State Convention for the Democratic Party at various times.
Surviving is her daughter Michele (David) Reeder, Grandchildren Lindsey Reeder-Owens, Joseph (Michelle) Reeder, and Great-grandchild Elijah Owens. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Denison, son Robert Francis Leonard Jr., daughter Kimberly Leonard, sister Linda Glidden, brother Learoy Sells and sister-in-law Jean Sells.
