Alunno, David Francis, of Flushing, age 81, passed away peacefully Monday, December 1, 2025, at McLaren-Flint. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Fr. Matthew Bonk will officiate. Burial will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Monday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church until the time of the Mass at 11 a.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke N.E.W. Life Center.
David was born in Flint, Michigan on October 18, 1944, the son of Waldo and Elizabeth (Forconi) Alunno. He married Elizabeth MacInnis on May 5, 1967, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Redford. He was a proud Veteran and a hardworking man who dedicated 35 years of service to General Motors, exemplifying loyalty and commitment in everything he did. David was a devoted parishioner of St. John Vianny Catholic Church in Flint and St. Robert Catholic Church in Flushing and a faithful member of the St Roberts Knights of Columbus.
He had a deep love of sports, from coaching his son’s little league team to playing on his own team, but nothing could compare to his passion for golf. He treasured spending time with his friends and family, especially over a lively card game or a trip they were able to take together. Along with his wife, they enjoyed many trips and adventures together, whether heading north on a spontaneous trip or setting off on a cruise, they embraced every moment side by side.
Dave was dedicated to his family, showing his love through service and action, always leading the way. For 20 years he volunteer at the North End Soup Kitchen serving his community. He had an intellectual thirst as he devoured all the knowledge he could. He was an avid reader and loved history. Dave was quick-witted, sharp, and always ready with a good joke, he brought laughter and light to all who knew him. His generosity, humor, and steadfast love for his family will be remembered forever.
David is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Elizabeth; his children who were the center of his world, Rebecca Alunno and Michael Alunno; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron and Mary MacInnis, Katherine Muhvic, Dan MacInnis, Marie and Bill Clancey, Sarah and Larry Elliott, Anne and Bill Schahfer; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Ernest MacInnis; godson, Brian Clancey; and nephew, Kris Muhvic.
