ZIENTEK, Robert E. - Age 88, of Fenton, passed away September 28, 2021. Bob was born May 10, 1933 to Stanley and Praxedis "Pearl" Zientek in Flint, MI. He attended All Saints, Jefferson, Emerson and graduated from Northern in 1951. He also attended Flint Junior College and GMI. Bob served in the U.S. Army in Europe from 1953-1955. He retired as Superintendent from Buick after 35 years of service. He was also spent time with Venture Industries as a manager at Madison, IN, Grand Rapids, Cookeville, TN, Grand Blanc and as a manufacturing head at Shelby American in Las Vegas. Bob was a member of the Greater Flint Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2001. He was a State Champion in Basketball in 1957. He was also a member of Dom Polski, Buick Retirees Club and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Fenton. Bob loved to fish and hunt at his cabin on Portage Lake in the UP. He played basketball for many years with the Flint City League, Buick Rec League, Flint JC and while in the Army. He also won many years of Basketball medals competing in The Flint Olympics. He also enjoyed collecting antiques, clock repair and a good deal at an auction or sale. Family was his life and always happiest when surrounded by them all. He leaves a daughter, Debra (Tom) Sydenham and granddaughter, Samantha of Scottsdale, AZ; a son, Wolf (Sana) Zientek of Fenton, Mi; granddaughter, Liv and grandson, Quincy of East Lansing, Mi. sisters, Wanda (Luther) Miller, Loretta (John) Blanchard; his Goddaughter Dawn (Steve) Dr. Shapiro, several nieces and nephews; many special friends in the Flint area, Mackinaw City, Petoskey and Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Elzbieta Allen, Del Leyman and Jean Vermette. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11AM Friday, October 8, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church , 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. The family will receive friends from 10AM until the time of service. Burial will follow in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
