CONGDON, Robert D. – of Burton, age 80, passed away February 21, 2015 at Genesys Health Park. A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Chaplain Adam Doyle officiating. Burial, with Military Honors will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-3 & 5-8 PM Tuesday and Wednesday. There will be one hour of visitation prior the service on Thursday. A Memorial Service under the auspices of the Burton VFW Post #2777 will be held at 7 PM Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Robert was born in Flint, MI on October 29, 1934, son of the late Durward and Edna (Abbott) Congdon. He married Sandra J. Purcell on August 2, 1957. Robert was a member of the Burton VFW Post #2777. He was a Truck Driver for GM before retiring in February of 1997.
Robert is survived by his wife, Sandra; sons, Danny (Liza) Congdon and Robert (Lisa) Congdon; grandchildren, Jason Congdon (Sarah), Haley and Blake, Chad Congdon (Kristina) and Trevor, Garrett Csirke (Jessica), Gage and Kaylin; sisters, Jane, Joyce, Joann and Darlene; brother, Max; many nieces and nephews; brother and sister-in-law, John and Mariland Bloom and family of Osgood, IN; special friends, Neil and Lucille Starr, Tommy and Polly Butler. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry and sister, Josephine.
