COTTRELL, Robert “Bob” – of Davison, MI, age 87, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossover Outreach, 414 West Court Street, Flint, MI 48503, in Bob’s memory.
Bob was born in Flint, MI on November 7, 1937, son of the late Clare and Margaret (Smith) Cottrell. On November 23, 1961, Bob married the love of his life, Sheryl Harshaw, in Flint, MI. Together, they shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Bob had a distinguished career as a Machine Repairman at Fernco in Davison, MI, where he was well-respected for his hard work and dedication. His contributions to the company were valued, and he made many lifelong friendships during his time there. A devoted member of First Presbyterian Church in Flint, Bob found comfort and strength in his faith. He was also a passionate John Deere enthusiast, and his love for these machines led him to become an active member of the Genesee Valley Two-Cylinder Tractor Club and the Mid-Michigan Antique Machinery Club. Bob enjoyed sharing his knowledge and passion with fellow members and loved spending time showcasing his beloved tractors. Bob will be lovingly remembered for his kind heart, his dedication to his family, and his unwavering enthusiasm for all things John Deere. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, service, and a deep love for his community.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Sheryl Cottrell; 2 children, Jonathan (Linda) Cottrell and David (Carla) Cottrell; grandson, Cameron Cottrell; sister, Norma (Larry) Janis; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Johnson.
