On December 17th at 10:20 pm, Cynthia Jean (Vought) Mahl passed away peacefully at home, with family, after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.
Cynthia was born in Alma Michigan, to Shirley (Needham) Vought and William Vought on August 15, 1946. Cynthia had one Brother, Jack Vought.
Cynthia leaves behind her husband, William Mahl, Daughter Jacqueline Pomranky (Cliff Urmanic, Jr), sons Christopher (Christie) Mahl, Matthew (Cammy) Mahl, Grandchildren Mallorie, Charlie, Brock & Austin Mahl, Her Sisters in Law, Keeli (Tim) Mahl, Jean (Bill) Petersen and many cousins, nieces, nephews, as well as grand nieces and nephews.
Her parents and brother preceded her in death, as did her son in law, Chad Pomranky, her sister-in-Law, Nola Mahl & her brothers-in-law Tim & Bob Mahl.
Cynthia was a kind, intelligent, caring, loving person, who sought to leave her little corner of the world better than she found it. She smiled at strangers, showed kindness to all, and did little things to make everyone’s day a little brighter.
Cynthia was an artist, enjoying sketching, painting, greeting card making & crafting.
Cynthia also enjoyed a long career in professional flower arranging, using both natural and silk flowers.
She was especially known for her wedding arrangements and holiday décor.
Cynthia was a den mother to several groups of Cub Scouts, helping to guide them into their teenage years & beyond.
Cynthia was a loving wife to William, taking better care of him than anyone else on earth would have.
Cynthia supported her sons’ athletic pursuits throughout their high school years and acted at ‘Team Mom’ bringing gallons of ice water and lemonade, for the whole team, to the practices and games.
Cynthia was also the “neighborhood mom”, as her house was where the kids in the neighborhood stayed, when their own parents were still at work.
Cynthia’s greatest joy was in being there for others and taking care of them; she was the easy-to-talk-to friend everyone turned to for an ear as well as advice. She supported her friends by caring for their children when they pursued careers outside the home; she was all about female empowerment before it was a thing.
Cynthia treasured her years on more than one bowling league, making life-long friends of many the ladies on the leagues.
Cynthia loved animals, having many pet dogs and cats over her lifetime.
The most special being a Springer Spaniel named Buster and a Greater Munsterlander named Ruby.
Cynthia will have visitation services on Tuesday, December 21st from 11:00am to 8:00 pm.
Her funeral service will be on Wednesday, December 22nd at 11:00 am.
Per her wishes cremation and burial will take place at a later date.
An informal dinner will be hosted by the Community Church of God at 1215 West Vienna Road, in Clio, immediately following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, Cynthia wishes for donations to be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County & The Genesee County Animal Control.
Special thanks to Kindred Hospice of Flint Michigan, for their aid and support during Cynthia’s battle.
