ROYCE, Shirley Ann – of Flint, age 87, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. A burial will take place in the Attica Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM Tuesday, October 17, 2023 and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Genesee County in Shirley’s memory.
Shirley Ann McClellan was born on December 21, 1935 in Flint, the daughter of the late Glenn and Marion (Jackson) McClellan. She graduated from Kearsley High School in 1954. Shirley married Robert L. Royce in May of 1956. Robert and Shirley were “snowbirds” in Florida for many years until his death on May 17, 2018. She worked for many years at Ternstedt in Flint, and then as an upholstery teacher at Mott Adult Ed for over 10 years. Shirley loved to paint beautiful art. She was very independent, and willing to try almost anything, a “Jill of all trades”. Shirley was truly a force to be reckoned with.
Shirley is survived by her children, Robert (Karen) Royce and Sharon (Karen Rice) Royce; 6 grandchildren, Michelle (Matt), DJ (Sam), Ronda (Nate), Rob (Val), Steven (Melanie) and Justin; 9 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Adison, Sarah, Zane, Kasen, Christopher, Hailey, Dalton, Dayton; best friend, Maggie Benedict; and her fur baby, Bristol. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; daughter, Karen (Royce) Meiser and son, David Royce.
