Russell Alvin Lund – age 88, passed on December 25, 2020 at Hurley Hospital in Flint, Michigan. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Anthony Brooks officiating. Burial in Evergreen Township Cemetery, Sheridan, Michigan at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 30, 2020. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 1-8 PM at O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
Russ was born May 15, 1932 in Sheridan, Michigan to Alvin and Edna (Bliss) Lund. He grew up in Flushing, Michigan, with his sisters Shirley (Ted Jones) and Maxine (Jack Allen). He graduated from Flushing High School in 1950. In 1952, Russ attended The Army Security Agency School at Fort Devens, MA before joining the 326 Communication Reconnaissance Company in South Korea for active duty 1953-1954. Russ was sworn in as a police officer with the City of Flint October 1, 1958 and retired March 8, 1982. Russ kept busy after retirement, working private security at Flint’s Renaissance Center and at Blue Lakes Charter in Clio.
Russ married Agnes (Libra) Lund on August 14, 1954 and they had seven children together during their 14 years of marriage: David Lund (Sharon Adams), Debbie Lund (Steve Butts), Cyndi Lund-Hanley (Bob Thompson), Russell W. Lund, Barbara Lund, Rebecca Lund-Bruce and Anne Lund (Al Strominger). Russ married Rose Marie (Jones-Sanborn) on August 22, 1969 and welcomed stepson Tim (Marie Matzke) Sanborn and stepdaughter Debbie (Sanborn) Benner into the family. To date, Russ’s family also includes 22 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and his dog Foxy.
Russ was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Shirley Jones, his wife Rose Marie Lund, grandson Eric Bruce, stepson Tim Sanborn, stepdaughter Debbie Benner, daughter-in-law Sharon Lund, nephew Rick Jones and many beloved brothers and sisters in law.
