MONTINI (LAMOTHE), LAURETTA A. – Of Linden, died Monday, May 15, 2023 at her home, with loving family present.
Memorial service will be held 10am Friday, May 26, 2023 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 706 Beach Street, Flint, Father Anthony Strouse officiating.
Cremation has taken place and burial of cremains will take place at a later date.
Visitation 12-8pm Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Rosary will be prayed 7pm Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Visitation 9am Friday at church until the time of the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Charities/and/or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Christ Enrichment Center or Martus-Luna Memorial Association.
Lauretta was born in Hubbell, Michigan on September 6, 1937, raised in Munising, MI -the daughter of the late Earl and Margarette (Putvin) LaMothe.
She was first and foremost a proud, devoted and loving Mother. She was a great cook and everyone was welcome to the dinner table.
Lauretta took pleasure in serving her Community. She was on The Boards of Catholic Charity, United Way and Odyssey House and involved in many community works including; United Way: Co-chair: Older Adult Solution Council Volunteer: System of Care for Older Adults Volunteer: Outcome Training for Human Service Agencies, Volunteer: H.O.S.T.S at West Bendle and Cumming Elementary in Flint, Member: Downtown Alliance of Churches, Member: Social Work Advisory Board, Parish Council: St. Matthews Church, Lector & Eucharistic Minister: St. Matthews Parish, Was: Chair Catholic Social Services,
Member: Finance Committee (CSS), Member: Strategic Planning Committee (CSS), Mott Community College(MCC): Board: Friends of Mott Library Board, Treasurer: MCC's two Bond Issues, Member: MCC's Endowment Growth Initiative, Member: MCC's Retiree's Steering Committee, Board Member: Odyssey House, Treasurer: Family Services Agency, Board: Martus-Luna Memorial Association. Co-chair of the Older Adult Solution Council of United Way, Community Activist-Aging Issues for Family Service Agency of Mid-Michigan.
Lauretta started her career at Mott Community College as a Secretary, got married, moved to Clare, Michigan and began raising a family. She returned to Flint and to Mott in 1974, working her way up to Director of Business Operations, all while furthering her Education, ending in the Doctoral program at Wayne State University. She retired from Mott September 1997.
Surviving are children, Monique Montini, Antony (Kimberly) Montini, Gabrielle Montini “Tooter” and Nicole Montini-Luna;
grandchildren, Callie Jones, Michael Montini, Ryan Montini, Tony Hooks, Nicklas “Kick” Hooks, Gianna Luna and Nico Luna;
great-grandchild, Emilio Jones;
brother, Michael (Renata) LaMothe; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, “Kitten” Tate; sister-in-law, Lois LaMothe; son-in-law, Roger Luna; a niece and 2 nephews.
