PUMKLIN, Charles A. – Of Swartz Creek, age 45, died Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at his home.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 7, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Father Tom Firestone officiating.
Entombment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
Visitation 11 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Charles was born in Flint, Michigan on June 21, 1976 the son of Kiat and Kittima Pumklin. Charles was born on a Monday as the first generation child in the USA. Attending Holy Redeemer Elementary School in Burton, Charles excelled at school and enjoyed playing many sports, such as football and baseball. Attending Holy Redeemer Church with the family he served the Lord with many years of being an alter server. He continued his Catholic education at Powers Catholic High School, graduating in 1994. At Powers, Charles continued his academic success which rewarded him with enrollment into Michigan State University. On May 8, 1999, Charles received his Bachelor’s Degree from MSU’s College of Natural Science. Being the driven person he is, Charles continued his advanced education at the University of Michigan-Flint and then the University of Detroit Mercy, where he finished the Physician’s Assistant program in 2009. Post-graduation, he started working for Hurley Medical Center Emergency Department. Outside of work, Charles enjoyed many hobbies and interests. His greatest passion included collecting comic books, where he spent a lot of his spare time enjoying. From his early childhood years Charles continued his passion of playing computer video games. He enjoyed this passion with his childhood friends till present day. Finally he loved spending time with family in Flint while building his dream home in Swartz Creek in 2017.
Surviving are parents, Kiat and Kitty Pumklin;
brother, Alan Pumklin;
aunt, Susie (Chad);
uncles, Outthai (Georgia) and Hoi (Cathy) and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mongon and Chaloay Pumklin, Soyou Wu and Yong Tae.
