Robert “Bob” Byers was born on July 24, 1925, in Niagara Falls, New York and died on May 24, 2022, at his residence in Montrose, MI celebrating 96 years of life. Married to Kathryn Geneva Potts, raising 5 children. Graveside service will be held for friends and family at the Montrose Township Cemetery on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at 1:00PM. Robert will receive Military Honors officiated by Pastor John Wilson.
Over his lifetime the passion he had for camping, hunting and fishing was abundant. Teaching his children and grandchildren to enjoy the great outdoors. He enjoyed his Detroit Tigers, hockey games, and sips of Blackberry Brandy. Endless western shows and Lawrence Welk on Sundays. One of his proudest moments in life was to have served in the Navy during WWII aboard the USS Miami as a Seaman First Class Gunnery Mate.
Robert moved to Michigan and started working for Staley’s Plumbing and Heating, received his plumbing license, and then entered General Motors Chevrolet V8 Engine plant as a pipefitter, retiring after 25 years.
Robert is the son of Joseph Curnel Byers and Helen Bolender Byers Press, Stepmother Frieda Leksell Byers.
He is survived by: Son Robert George Byers and wife Darla, daughter Billie Jo, Daughter in law Becky Byers Wilson, Children: Raymond and Rebecca, Son Jeffery and Sheila Byers children Lorraine, Lance and Kati Beth, Daughter Melanie and Rudy Newton children Travis and Tiffany, Son Kip Byers children Jacob and Kate,15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents and brother Leonard Byers, Wife Kathryn Geneva, Son Jerauld “Jerry”. |
