Jack Kern, 89, of Flushing, succumbed to cancer at the home of his daughter in Florida on March 29, 2022. Jack was born in Marquette Michigan, grew up in Gladwin, and lived most of his life in Flushing. He was the proprietor of Jack Kern's Barbershop and Flushing Lanes-Jack's Place Bar. Jack served his country in the Korean Conflict and attained the rank of Sergeant. Jack married Mary Ann on July 3, 1964. Sadly, she preceded him in death on March 26, 2017. He is survived by his daughters, Betty (Larry) VanOchten and Sammy Kern (Mark Glitto); grandchildren, Patrick M. (Deb) McKinnon, Heather (John) Browning, and Ashley Lindhurst; six great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Jerry) Kern; brother-in-law, Karl (Billie) Loper, and sister-in-law, Jill (Charlie) Grignani. Besides his wife, Jack is predeceased by his parents, Dell and Geneva (McManus) Kern; in-laws, John and Harriet Loper; daughter, Paula Lindhurst; grand-daughter, Autumn Doutcheva; brother, Thomas (Donna) Kern; sister, Barbara (Sonny) Backs; brothers-in-law, Adam (Rose) Loper, John (Janet) Loper, and Beryl (Kay) Loper, and sister-in-law, Barbara (John) Simon. Private arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 821 N. Pine Rd., between Ridge and Center.
