McKone, Richard Brice "Dick", of Flushing, Michigan, age 86, died Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Dick was born on June 16, 1935 in New Lothrop, Michigan to Cecil and Leona (Conklin) McKone. He married JoAnn Clark in Flushing, Michigan on November 9, 1957. She preceded him in death on January 3, 2022.
He entered the Army after graduating from high school. He worked as a dredgeman in the northern Great Lakes after their marriage, and then moved his new family back to Flushing, where he began working for Buick. He also worked as a concrete contractor for many years, and finished his working life at AC Sparkplug/Delco in Flint, in the mid 90s.
Dick enjoyed woodworking, furniture refinishing, gardening, spending time outside, especially in his rocking chair in front of the barn watching the traffic go by. His greatest joy was his family, and when someone stopped by to visit with him.
He is survived by his children, Michelle Bensch, David (Wendy) McKone, and Rick (Dru) McKone; grandchildren, Katrina (Rocky), Amanda (Jason), Shayn (Madison), Erica, Lauren (Jared) Lindsey, Katie, Mitchell (Madi), Jade, and Jewel; and many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn McKone; brother, Jack McKone, his twin, Bob McKone; sister, JoAnn; and son-in-law, Bruce Bensch. |
