Gloria Janet was born on October 9, 1937 in Sikeston, MO to Fred and Adeline Gurley (nee Depro). Janet's father worked for the Steele Company in Sikeston, where she and her older sister, Janice, spent their early years. From Sikeston, the family moved to Caro, Illinois and later to Flint, Michigan at which time the family joined Emanual Lutheran Church. Janet and her siblings attended Emanual Lutheran School where she was confirmed and graduated in the 8th grade.

Janet attended high school at Flint Northern. She was known for being the tallest of all students everywhere she went and enjoyed modeling for the local department stores. She was known to always be dressed to the "9's."

Always up for an adventure, a younger Gloria Janet spent time doing different jobs and even lived in California for a bit. With each adventure, she brought her bigger than life personality, love for people, and left a positive and special mark wherever she went.

In 1970, Janet met the love of her life, Martin Ernst Lueker. He quickly nicknamed her "Pretty Redhead" (aka PR). They married shortly after with a blended family of his, hers, and theirs totaling 8 children. Eight children grew into 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Janet was Martin's "Pretty Redhead" for 52 wonderful years on their 35 acre farm in Flushing.

A Christ centered family atmosphere was a top priority, as they sacrificed for the children to attend the same Lutheran grade school she did. Janet was involved with the school in various roles that included Pre-School and Kindergarten teacher, and she was also a hot lunch cook.

Janet also had a soft heart for the developmentally disabled. As an advocate for her eldest son, she provided him with a loving home during a time when most were cared for in an institution. She extended her generosity by hosting Christmas parties, dances, etc for her son and his friends. Janet also turned her own home into an assisted living space where she quickly made others a part of her family.

Janet was known as an excellent cook and could make a gourmet meal out of nothing. Family and friends attended the annual standing room only Christmas Eve celebrations in her home with a feast for all that remains a point of conversation to this day and gifts that would spill from underneath the Christmas tree and into the other room. Her love for cooking extended into a catering business that started with a back-yard graduation party for a friend after which "Chateau Catering" was born.

Whether she was spending her winters in Florida, managing campgrounds up north, modeling in fashion shows, gathering with family and friends to share stories, going on RV trips to Missouri, dancing with her sisters at weddings, creating fun games for her grandchildren (and wrapping up bananas as prizes), or giving you her full attention, she did it all with love (very often having to take off her glasses to wipe the tears of laughter).

Gloria is survived by her husband, Martin Ernst Lueker; children Don (Patricia) (Former spouse Debbie), Lueker, Dennis Lueker (Former spouse Nancy) Debra (Kevin) Braley, Dorie Lueker-Gibbs (Preceded in death by Mark), Michael (Kelly) Emerson, Martin Lueker Jr. (Former Spouse Meg), Kyle (Carrie) Lueker; grandchildren Ryan, Aaron, Michael, Sam, Tiffany, Jacqueline, Kyle, Jilian, Shane, Caitlyn, Allan, Allana, Alex, Amara, Chase, Kylie, Connor; great-grandchildren Mason, Landon, Conner, James, Isla, Lincoln, Adley, and siblings Janice Ehrbright, Helen Macri, Ruth Textor, Greg Gurley, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Adeline Gurley; and son, (David John Lueker).

We will miss our wife, mom, Grammie, Sister, Auntie, friend dearly, but have great Peace with the knowledge she is now in her Heavenly home in the newness of eternal life.
