Billy Gordon, 84, a longtime resident of Flint, MI passed away peacefully at his residence on May 4th, 2021 surrounded by his family.
Bill was born on July 12,1936 to Orbin and Josephine (Thomason) Gordon in Portageville, MO. His formative years were spent on the farm with his parents and 7 siblings. The family moved to Flint, MI in 1962. He was a graduate of Wardell High School, class of 1955. Bill enlisted into the United States Army in 1959 and served until 1961. When he came home from the Army he began his career as an Insurance Agent where he worked for 30 years. He was involved in many things throughout his life; he was the Worshipful Master of Flint Lodge 23 for 2 terms as well as secretary/ treasurer for 20+ Years. He was also a member of the Morningstar Lodge and Kishma Grotto as well as an Elf Khurafeh Shriner.
He enjoyed walking everyday and especially working in his yard. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his life and he enjoyed every minute he got to spend with them. He was the family “jokester’ and loved pestering any and everyone. It seemed that everywhere he went, he always knew somebody.
Bill is survived by his wife Marion of 61 years, son James (Angie) Gordon, 7 Grandchildren; Josh (Shana) Gordon, Ryan (Lauren) Gordon, Kayli (Grant III) Scott, Logan Gordon, Ben Neeley, Jeffrey Clark, and Tatianna Clark. 10 Great Grandchildren; Dallas, Addison, Harper, Caiden, Grant IV, Jameson, Everleigh, Gracelynn, Tripp, and Bailey. 7 Siblings; Geneva Sue Coleman, Jimmy Craig Gordon, Betty (Bill) Shier, Becky (Bill) Walker, Peggy Underwood, Leonard (Candy) Gordon, Orbin (Hyon) Gordon Jr. amongst many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother in-law and friend was loved by all and will be missed dearly.
Viewing will be held Friday May 7, 2021 at Swartz Funeral Home from 4-7pm. Funeral Service will be Saturday May 8, 2021 at 11AM at Swartz Funeral Home; 1225 W. Hill Rd. Flint, MI. Due to Covid Restrictions this will be a Family only Service; our sincere apologies for those who were hoping to attend.
