HASSEL, Imogene “Jean” – of Clio, age 88, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, after a long struggle with cancer. The family will receive visitors on Friday, June 18, 2021, from 10AM until 2PM at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. A graveside service will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Clio.
Jean was born September 9, 1932, in Dickson, Tennessee, to the late Roy and Emma (Roberts) McElhiney. She married James Preston Hassel in 1950 and spent many years living in various states and abroad as a military wife.
Jean leaves behind: Son, Derrick (Karen) Hassell of Clio; Grandsons: Tristin (Natalie) Hassell of Modesto, CA; Troy (Rachael) Hassell of Fenton; Great grandchildren: Eloise, Miryam, and Augustine; Step great grandchildren: Sofia, and Seth; Nephew, Stephen McElhiney; Niece, Teresa McElhiney-Yancho; Several great nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by: Husband, James Hassel; Son, Troy Hassel; Brother and sister in law, John (GayNell) McElhiney.
