SCHIPPER, William R. – of Clio, age 84, died on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Ascension Genesys Hospital of Grand Blanc. Honoring his wishes, cremation will be taking place. A memorial service will be held at 3PM, Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Bethany United Methodist Church - 353 E. Vienna St., in Clio. Pastor Cathi Huvaere officiating. The family will receive visitors at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 2PM until 8PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church in Clio.
William was born November 20, 1936 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to the late Ebo and Arlene (Dykehouse) Schipper. He married Clarissa “Cris” Lauffer on June 13, 1959. Mr. Schipper was a teacher at Clio High School where he taught band and history for 39 years before retiring in 1997. Bill was a charter member of the Clio Lions Club, and past president of the Clio and Genesee Lions Club where he also served as zone chairman and youth exchange director. He was also a member of W.A.G.O.N, and Bethany United Methodist Church in Clio where he played in the band, bell choir, and was also the band director. Bill enjoyed camping, traveling, music, and photography.
Surviving are: Wife of 61 years, Cris Schipper; Daughter, Christine (Bob) Flynn; Daughter in law, Joan Schipper; Grandchildren: Brian (Carrie) Flynn, Erin (Courtney) Flynn, Lori (Austen) Shoup; Allisanne Schipper, and Michelle Schipper; Sister in law, Carol Lauffer; Brother in law, Bill (Dar) Lauffer; Nephew, Scott Lauffer; Nieces: Kim Lauffer, and Jaima (Bob) Vance; Great nephews: Finn, and Owen. Bill was also preceded in death by: Son, William Schipper, Jr.; Brother, Don Schipper; Brother in law, John Lauffer.
