FANN, Elmer “Herb” “Hoot” Herbert. - of Clio, age 88, died on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at Cranberry Park. Funeral services will be held at 12PM, on Friday, June 25, 2021, at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Chaplain Donny Cox will be officiating. The family will receive visitors on Friday, June 25, 2021, from 11AM until 12PM. Burial with Military Honors will take place the following Friday, July 2, 2021, at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to Cardinal Hospice.
Elmer was born September 26, 1932, in DeSoto, Illinois. He married the love of his life, Shirley (Daughtery) Fann in Pocahontas, Arkansas in 1952. Elmer joined the Army and served in the Korean War, he was a proud veteran with a Bronze Star, many metals, and several awards he earned. Elmer enjoyed hunting, fishing, joking around and most of all his family. He was proud to be a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be missed for his sense of humor and giving heart.
Surviving are: Children: Sandra (Melvin) Stokes, Danny Fann, and Andy (Pam) Fann; Several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; Sisters: Dolly “Cookie” (Jim) Hoover, and Goldie Throgmorton; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: Parents: Gus and Dollie Varnum; Wife: Shirley Fann; sons: Randy and Ronnie Fann; Grandchildren: Ronald Fann, Shirley Fann, Mandy Fann, Ashley Fann, and Benjamin Thibeault; Sisters Leona Countys, and Ida Rose Dixon.
