ANDERSON, Jacqueline E. – of Saginaw, formerly of Clio, age 89, died peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Hoyt Nursing Home in Saginaw. Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Community of Christ – 4041 Vienna Rd. in Clio. Pastor Cindy Dewar officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church on Thursday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Immediately following the service, the family invites everyone to join them at the church luncheon for food and fellowship. Burial will be 2:30PM Thursday at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw. Memorial contributions may be made to Community of Christ - Clio.
Jacqueline was born March 14, 1934, in Prescott, Michigan, to the late Howard and Nellie (Sommerville) Gregg. She graduated as valedictorian from Reese High School with the class of 1951, and later attended business courses in Saginaw. Jacqueline worked at General Motors as a senior accountant for 30 years before retiring in 1993. She was a very active member of Community of Christ in Clio where she was a bookkeeper for several years and her compassionate soul led her to initiate the church's food pantry. Jacqueline enjoyed traveling and exploring new places, but her true passion was carpentry. She was an avid carpenter and had a knack for breathing new life into old houses. Her love for this craft was evident in every detail she added to the homes she worked on.
Surviving are: Daughter, Sandra (Phil) Erway; Sons: Donald (Amy) Matthews, and Phillip Matthews (girlfriend, Joelene Hascall); Grandchildren: Melissa Bridges (husband, Joshua Butzin), and Dylan Matthews (fiancée, Sam Chauvin); Great granddaughter, Olivia Butzin; Brother, Ronald (Gloria) Gregg; Sister, Gayle Churchill; Special friends: Carol Ross and Sue Judd; Several nieces, nephews, other loving family members, and friends. Jacqueline was also preceded in death by: Son, David Matthews; Brother, Jerry Gregg; Sister-in-law, Elaine Gregg; Brother-in-law, Vern Churchill.
