Judy was born June 27, 1941, in Durand, Michigan to Wilbur and Helen (Reynolds) Reimel. She graduated from Durand High School in 1959 and married Mr. Gerald Viener on February 18, 1961, at the Durand United Methodist Church. Judy wore many hats throughout her life; she worked at the Durand Movie Theater as a teenage girl, the Railroad, General Motors, Grand Blanc Convalescent Home, and Kearsley Manor Senior Living Center before retiring in 2011. Judy truly had a servant’s heart; she looked on the bright side of things and thought of others first. Her heart was never so full than when she was doing something for others. She was always willing and eager to volunteer for any task to help others; she volunteered much of her time at Byron Area Schools with the FFA PALS Program as well as in various classrooms. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years at the United Methodist Church of Gaines, she was a Charter Member of the Byron VFW Auxiliary and was a Job’s Daughters International Alumni.
To her family and friends, she was a Legend. A person whose kindness, love, and devotion touched more lives than she could ever imagine. She was always the first to send an encouraging message or celebrate her family’s achievements or surround them with love in times of trouble. She enjoyed making memories with family; whether up north, on vacations, or at holiday times. She would play cards until the early morning hours. Judy loved a beautifully set table surrounded by her family and friends; she was a master pierogi maker and over the years made thousands for many celebrations.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of 60 years; Jerry, her children; Greg (Renée) Viener, Dawn (David) Bartlett, and Doug (Trisha) Viener, loving grandchildren; Calla (Matt) Wimmer, Grayson Viener, and Skylar Viener, her sisters; Becky (Steve) Durling, Sue (Ron) Tomalia, and Martha (Bill) Gillett, many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to include the “Up North Girls.” She was preceded in death by her parents; Wilbur and Helen Reimel.
She loved Disney and the belief “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow.” Her best and last advice was to Live a Great Life! We Love You “More,” Mom!
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan’s Backpack meal program for children. Online condolences may be shared at www.watkinsfuneralhomes.com. |
