Sherill "Sherri" Lynn Bakos, age 75, of Owosso, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Owosso.
Born on June 20, 1950, at Memorial Hospital in Owosso, Sherri was the daughter of Andrew and Colleen (Ryker) Bakos. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Andrea Pirochta and Wavanna Craven; and her nephew, Christian Bunting.
Sherri worked for many years at Robbin's Furniture of Owosso before dedicating much of her career to Michigan festivals and events. She found her true calling with the Curwood Festival, where her dedication and leadership shone. As a longtime board member and former president, Sherri was instrumental in ensuring the festival's continued success and growth-a legacy that will carry on for years to come.
Beyond her professional life, Sherri was known for her love of University of Michigan sports, her skill and enjoyment of billiards, and her enthusiasm for hosting family dinners and decorating for the holidays. Her warmth and hospitality made every gathering special.
Above all, Sher cherished her family. She is survived by her son, Bob (Brenda) Bernath; her grandchildren, Derek (Emily) Bernath, Dakota Bernath (Kaylee Graham), and Hannah Bernath (Preston Keyes): and her great-grandchildren, Ona Lee Confer, Octavia Keyes, Rowan Bernath, and Raina Bernath. She is also survived by her brother, Andrew Bakos, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved her dearly.
In keeping with Sherri's wishes, cremation has taken place.
A visitation and celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Nelson-House Funeral Home in Owosso. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a service at 2pm.
Sherri will be remembered for her kindness, energy, and devotion to family, community, and the Curwood Festival she loved so deeply. |
