CHILDS, David Clarence – of Flint, MI, age 75, passed away Monday, May 30, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held 12 PM Monday, June 6, 2022, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd. Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Harold Polk, Jr. officiating. Interment will take place following the service at Meadowview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors 11-3 PM and 4-8 PM Sunday, June 5, 2022 and 10-12 PM Monday, June 6, 2022, at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
David was born in Flint, MI on April 22, 1947, son of the late Clarence and Betty (Coleman) Childs. He married Diane Hendricks on January 14, 1967 at First Presbyterian Church in Flint, MI. David graduated from Kearsley High School in 1965. He started working at AC Spark Plug in 1966 and after retiring in 1996 he went on to earn his associate degree in automotive engineering. He became plant manager at Eaton Corp. in Ann Arbor for 6 years until he retired in 2003. He was also a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge #236 and Davison OES Chapter 299. David enjoyed spending his time after retirement travelling with his beloved wife, Diane. They spent a lot of time at their home in Bradenton, Florida. David was an avid golfer and frequented the golf course daily. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. David was an “angry bird”, but was loving and caring man that will be greatly missed.
David is survived by his wife, Diane Childs; daughters, Amy (Jimmy) Flood and Jenny (Thomas) Nichols; 4 grandchildren, Ashleigh (Heith), Jay (Brianna), Alexxa (Deitrick) and Emma; 5 great grandchildren, Kendall, Kaylee, Ava, Halo and Bryant; siblings, James Childs, Betty Jo Burke, and Linda (Mark) Ploe; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Betty Childs.
