SNYDER, Dennis H. – of Genesee County, age 74 died, April 21, 2021 at his home in Clio with his family. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and the family hopes to have a memorial service outside at Goguac Lake in Battle Creek sometime in June.
Dennis was born in Philadelphia County on January 19, 1947 to the late Charles Snyder and Irene (Southwick) McElwee. Dennis worked 3rd shift at Buick while he attended the University of Michigan-Flint and Detroit College of Law, where he graduated with a Juris Doctorate. Dennis was the Attorney for the Village of Holly for several years, a lawyer practicing in Genesee and Oakland Counties from 1979 – 2012 and a member of both the Michigan Bar Association and Genesee County Bar Association. He married Linda 54 years ago on September 17th in 1966 in Battle Creek.
Dennis was a huge fan of U of M, sports and coaching. His favorite places to be were Big Noccurs in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan or inside the courtroom, where he came alive. Dennis loved fishing on his pontoon with friends and family. Dennis was an easy going and likeable guy, with a great sense of humor, who will be remembered for his love and passion for life and his family, who loved being a father and grandfather.
Surviving are: Wife Linda (Gaspar) Snyder; Children: Dennis H. (Mary) Snyder II, Terina (Gary) Carte, Christopher Snyder, Michael Snyder; Grandchildren: Zack, Nick, Travis, Chase, Brooke, Chassidy, Phenix and Kota; Siblings: Rodney (Sue), Diane, and Jonathan (Kim); and several Nieces and Nephews. Preceding Dennis are his Parents: Charles Snyder and Irene McElwee, and Brother: Kevin Snyder.
