Alvin E. Ward of Metamora, MI, passed away peacefully on June 19th, 2023 surrounded by his beloved family. Alvin’s unwavering love and devotion to his wife, Beverly Ward, lasted an incredible 64 years, a testament to their enduring bond.
Born in the town of Croswell, MI, on May 5, 1938, Alvin embarked on a remarkable journey that touched the lives of many. After honorably serving his country in the United States Army, he worked for various tree trimming companies, and then dedicated himself to a successful career spanning nearly three decades at the Pontiac Motor Division of General Motors.
Born 9th of 13 children, Alvin was a family man at heart, finding joy in the presence of his loved ones. He had a special fondness for children and always delighted in making them giggle, creating cherished memories for generations to come. His green thumb was evident through his loving care of a bountiful garden, which brought him immense pride. Tending to his beautiful park-like property adorned with majestic pine trees was a labor of love for him, as he nurtured its natural beauty.
Alvin found pleasure in various hobbies and interests including hunting, ice fishing, and bird watching. Together with Beverly, he traveled across the United States, creating precious memories along the way. Alvin’s playful spirit shone through as he indulged in the excitement of penny and nickel slots at the casino.
Alvin leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to his family. His memory will be forever cherished by his adorning wife, Beverly, his children, and all those fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in peace in heaven, forever etched in our hearts.
Alvin is survived by his wife: Beverly (Teichow) Ward of Metamora; children: LeRoy (Deborah) Ward of Mt. Morris Twp and Tammy (Roger) Keller of Attica; grandchildren: Missy (Jason) Saas, Jason (Erica) Bellinger, Brandon (Lisa) Bellinger, Ashley (Nate) Upleger and Nick (Kari) Keller; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Emma, Ben, Nori, Greyson, Leland and Macy; siblings: Ruth Anne Conrad and Lyle Ward and many in-laws as well. He was preceded in death by his baby daughter, Kimberly, 10 of his 12 siblings and his parents Ernest and Martha (Clark) Ward.
A memorial service will be held on Friday July 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM on the day of the service. Pastor Jared Nies will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and/or American Lung Association. |
