LaFreniere, Joel M. “Bum” – of Clio, age 68, died peacefully on Monday, July 25, 2022, at his residence with family by his side. Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday, July 29, 2022, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 3PM until 8PM, and on Friday from 10Am until the time of service at 11AM. Honoring his wishes, cremation will follow.
Joel was born June 11, 1954, in Flint, Michigan to the late Rene and Eileen (Burbank) LaFreniere. He married the love of his life, Lynne Morris on January 20, 1973, in Mt. Morris. Joel was an electrician for Buick before retiring in 2008 with 35 years of service. He enjoyed gardening and working on cars – especially restoring his Buick. He also enjoyed cooking – though his favorite part was feeding his family and friends. Above all, family was the most important thing in the world to Joel. He loved spoiling his grandchildren and taking them fishing at the pond.
Surviving are: Loving wife, Lynne LaFreniere; Sons: Joel LaFreniere II, David (Kim) LaFreniere, and Stephen LaFreniere (Christie Cook); Grandchildren: Damion (Amber) LaFreniere, Cloe, Dawson, Mackenzie, Ashlyn, Owen, Oscar, and Madison; Great grandchildren: Michael and Makayla; Siblings: Rene (Beth) LaFreniere, Stephanie (Jeffrey) Hagenstein, Mary (Thomas) Severn, John (Jill) LaFreniere, and Matthew (Tammy) LaFreniere; Mother in law, Joanne Morris; Sisters in law: Donna Long, and Janet Morris-Harrold; Brothers in law: Marty Morris, and Michael (Kem) Morris; Many nieces, nephews, other loving family members, friends, and his spirited furry companion, Ruby.
