BURGHDORF, Lassiter J. (Deke) - Of Davison, age 96, died Saturday, July 9, 2022 at his residence in West Branch, Michigan.
Funeral service will be held 11am Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Reverend Susan Lidums officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Contributions may be directed to the National Stroke Association.
Visitation 11am-8pm Tuesday and 9am Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Lassiter was born in Flint, Michigan on April 22, 1926, the son of the late Irving and Bertha (Chalker) Burghdorf and was a resident of the Davison area most of his life. On March 16, 1945, he married Virginia C. Lewis. He proudly served in the Unites States Army during World War II. Lassiter was employed by Chevrolet Flint Metal Fabricating for 43 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Atlas Baptist Church and attended Our Risen Lord Lutheran Church. He was a social butterfly who enjoyed gardening and was devoted to his entire family.
Surviving are son, Duane and wife Bethany of West Branch;
grandchildren, Deanna and (Larry) Herrington of Davison, Danielle (Ronald) Grogis of Lyndeborough, NH, Dennette (Michael) Mondeau of Kayce, Wyoming and Duane Burghdorf, II, of Davison;
great-grandchildren, Mia and Deacon Mondeau;
and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia in 1993, brothers, Duane Burghdorf, Irving Burghdorf and Floyd (Opal) Burghdorf, sisters, Myrtle (Irving) Harburn and Lila (Cecil) Reigle.
