MILLS, Shirley Mae – of Otisville, age 88, passed away peacefully April 9, 2018 at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility - Suncrest. A Funeral Service will be held 3 PM Friday, April 13, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Greg Capsel officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Thursday. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Friday.
Shirley was born in Davison, MI on December 18, 1929, daughter of the late George and Bertha (Jewell) Burton. She married her high school sweetheart, Charles Mills, on July 9, 1948. Shirley brought a smile to everyone around her, was always full of laughs and rarely seen without sweets hidden somewhere. She was a loving grandma and role model to eight grandchildren, whom she was so proud of. Several great and even great-great grandchildren were also fortunate to be a part of her life. She will be missed by everyone who was blessed to know her.
Shirley is survived by children, Charlene (David) Mann, Connie (Alvin) Fielder, Marcia (Don) Burgess and Marvin (Lydia Cook) Mills; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Orville (Pat) Burton; sister, Donna (Roy) Burbank; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Charles; brother, Lawrence D. Burton; sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Pat Burton; niece, Sheri Jinks.
