UMPHREY, William Joseph - Of Burton, age 76, died Monday, November 1, 2021 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held 5pm Friday, November 5, 2021 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Reverend Dr. Max B. Hayden officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to ASPCA and food donations for the poor.
Visitation 1pm Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
William was born in Colton, California on February 9, 1945, the son of Wesley and Betty (Arbaghast) Umphrey. On June 20, 1970, he married Janet Kay Nanney at New Haven Baptist Church in Burton.
Surviving are wife, Janet;
children, Scott (Carrie) Umphrey, Brian Umphrey, Jason (Tammie Osbourne) Umphrey, April (Omar) Baker;
grandchildren, Tyler and A.J. Umphrey, Alexis, Alexander and Xavier Baker;
mother, Betty Young;
siblings, Stephanie Thomas, Jeff Umphrey, Sandra Umphrey, Debbie Scruggs, and Melanie Batey.
He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, C.J. Umphrey, sister, Kathy, brother, Dennis Umphrey and father, Wesley.
