NIES, Kathleen Ann - Of Flint Township, age 74, died Sunday, November 1, 2020 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.
Private funeral services will be held.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Old Newsboys of Flint or Recovery, Inc.
Visitation 6-8pm Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Pleas social distance, and per the family’s request, masks are required.
Kathleen was born in Pontiac, Michigan on June 8, 1946, the daughter of the late Robert and Shurley Cauley. She graduated from Flint Southwestern High School, Class of 1964. On May 27, 1966, she married Robert Nies Sr. and he preceded her in death on August 27, 2006. She retired from the Flint Community Schools. She was a natural caretaker. She lived for her family. Kathleen adored her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a Cub and Girl School leader and always volunteered for everything. Kathleen enjoyed crocheting and sewing clothing and costumes, and was an exceptional cook.
Surviving are children, Tina Marie, and Robert Michael, Jr. and wife Michelle;
grandchildren, Desere’ Nies, Cassandra (Anthony) Kettler, Tyler Rauh, Kelsey (Scott) Hardin, and Cody Rauh;
great grandchildren, Sydney, Luke, Wyatt, Aubrey, Cecilia, and Patrick;
brothers, David (Deborah) Cauley, Mark (Candice) Cauley;
sister, Christina (Jason) Hernandez;
best friend, Marie Claudette Brasseur; special cousin, Mary Ellen Cauley;
and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and nephews.
She will be sadly missed by the many whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Robert Michael, Sr.; her parents Robert, Sr. and Shurley Cauley; brothers Robert, Jr. and Stephen; and sister Maryann Charlton.
