Jan Marie Kapla, of Swartz Creek, Michigan, age 66, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Rossell Funeral Home. Deacon Jeff Beckwith will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 18 and from 12 noon Saturday until the time of the service.
Jan was born in Flint, Michigan on February 2, 1956 to Donald and Helen (Bastion) Hodges. She retired from a career with General Motors as a Processing Engineer after 33 years. She married Bruce Kapla on June 16, 1989 and together they had many adventures. They enjoyed photography and had a photography business together for years. After that, the two of them formed a band called Toast & Jam that traveled all over the country. Jan loved to sing and had the skill to play several instruments. In addition to performing musically she was a member of Clio Cast & Crew and a dancer in the Flint area. She was an avid downhill skier in the winter and an avid golfer in the warm months. Jan also enjoyed boating, trail riding on the side by side, and spending time at their house in Cheboygan in the summer, too. She was very talented at cross stitching and often made beautiful hand stitched gifts for her family.
Jan is survived by her husband, Bruce Kapla; children, Cari Hughes and Daniel (Jennifer) Kapla; sisters-in-law, Maggie (Hugh) Harmon and Toni (Jeff) Beckwith; cousins, Brad (Jennifer) Bastion, Wendy (Dan) Asquino, and Denise (Lee) Grotzinger; aunt, Carol (Tom) DeKlerk; and lifelong best friend, Judy McTaggart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Helen Hodges;l uncle, Thomas Bastion; and aunt, Ann Bastion. |
