STOLPIN, Roger Mitchell – Of Holly, age 74, died Monday, March 21, 2022.
Memorial visitation will be held 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Cremation has taken place.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Humane Society of Genesee County, WUOM Public Radio, WCMU Public Radio or charity of one’s choice.
Roger was born in Flint, Michigan on April 18, 1947, the son of the late William and Dorothy (Mitchell) Stolpin.
He graduated from Flint Northern High School and attended Mott College. He was a Boy Scout and lit trick fires for the Order of the Arrow. He married Gail Gillespie in 1970 in Flint. Roger worked as a Skilled Tradesman in the Model Shop at AC until retirement. He was a member of the Inventor’s Council of Mid-Michigan and holder of four US patents. He could build or fix anything and generously used his talents to help out anyone with a problem.
Roger was smart, funny, curious and unique. Roger’s interests included computers, photography, economics, politics, philosophy, Saab automobiles, geodesics, cigars, solar eclipses and wildlife watching. He and Gail enjoyed good music live and on good stereo equipment. Roger was also a fabulous cook and went to the Farmers Market 3 times a week for ingredients.
Roger will be greatly missed by all his friends; and most of all, his loving wife, Gail. Surviving are wife, Gail; niece, Krishna (Steve) Horst; nephew, James Stolpin; sister-in-law, Kathy;
numerous cousins and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, William.
