SHRECK, Bill (William) Jr., loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away on April 21, 2022. He was born on December 6, 1952 to William Ladd Shreck and Martha-Ellen Conley Shreck in Medina Ohio.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Monday, April 25, 2022 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton,

Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation 1-7pm Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation 10am Monday at church until the time of the Service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Father Solanus Casey Center (https://www.solanuscenter.org/donate) in Detroit.

Bill graduated from Sterling Heights Stevenson in 1971. He received his B.A. in Political Science from Michigan State University (MSU) in 1975 and was a graduate assistant at the University of Michigan.

He was Chairman of the Genesee County Democratic Party from 1983 to 1987, a pollster and friend of Mayor Mike Guido of Dearborn, a staffer for Senator Carl Levin, and staffer for Governor Jim Blanchard.

Bill worked for MDOT from 1988 to 2022 including serving as MDOT Communications Director (2006 to 2011) appointed by both Governor Jennifer Granholm and Governor Rick Snyder and was on the forefront of the Adopt a Highway program.

His commitment was democracy. He was about good government.

On November 7, 1998 he married Christine Fialka at All Saints Church. They spent 25 years enjoying MSU football and basketball games. Bill was a season ticket holder for 42 years attending all MSU Final Four games and two Rose Bowls.

He enjoyed sports, politics, reading, all aspects of MSU, time with family, road trips to MSU away games with Billy, and Friday afternoons with his grandsons.

Surviving are wife Christine, son Billy Shreck, grandsons Liam and Micah, sister Melanie Shreck, brother Scott (Maconda) Shreck, sister Fayellen (Tony) Russell, sister-in-law Norma Shreck, step brother Bryan Bankston (Kathy), step sister Sue (Walter) Hooker, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and a great nephew.

Bill was proceeded in death by his parents, brother Morris Shreck, sister Kelly Shreck, stepmother Winnell Shreck, and stepsister Melinda Frazier.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Randy, Bill's visiting nurse, who spent several months providing excellent care, encouragement, and friendship to Bill.
