Mathews, Terry L. of Flushing, age 68, died Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Ascension St. John-Detroit. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2023, at Rossell Funeral Home. Pastor Ruth VanderSande will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Terry was born in Flint, Michigan on May 6, 1955, the son of Kenneth and Geraldine (Wilson) Mathews. He was employed by General Motors for over 30 years. Terry married Kathy Wheeler on April 5, 2001. He loved skiing, sailing, and sailing his sailboat. He taught boaters safety for many years. Terry enjoyed fixing and tinkering with everything. He was a member of Flushing United Methodist Church, The Flushing Moose Lodge, Schussmeister Ski Club, the Buick Club and America’s Boating Club-Power and Sail Squadron.
Terry is survived by his wife, Kathy; many family members and friends; and his beloved sidekick, Barley. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dave.
