Charles D. “Chuck” Viers of Davison, age 87, died Tuesday June 20, 2023 on his Sixty-fourth wedding anniversary, at McLaren-Flint. Honoring his wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Monday June 26, 2023 at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison, with Dorothea Weiss officiating. Family will receive visitors from 1 – 7 pm Sunday June 25, 2023, at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions in Chuck’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Davison First Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
Chuck was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana on Aug. 10, 1935 the son of the late Paul and Bertha (Milam) Viers and had resided in the Davison area most of his life. He was joined in marriage to Gwendolyn Gregor on June 20, 1959 in Davison. Chuck loved the outdoors, from mowing his lawn to riding his tractors and hobby farming. Chuck had been a Barber for over sixty-eight years owning and operating Chuck’s Barber Shop in Downtown Davison since 1969. He was one of the last original business operators of this era and had been an active supporter of the Davison Community for decades.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of sixty four years Gwen, his sons: Greg Viers, and Scott Viers. He also leaves his loving grandchildren; Justin and wife Leah Viers, Brett Viers, and great granddaughter Kelsea Viers, brother in law and sister in law Bill and Sue Gregor, and sister in law Doris Humphreys. Many cousins, nieces and nephews,and several close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, father and mother in law William and Arlene Gregor, sister and brother in law Barbara and John Madill, brother in law Jerry Gregor, and nephew Gary Gregor.
