SOLOMON, Mae Lydia (Eshoo) – of Burton, MI, age 99, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Open Door United Methodist Church, 4010 Lippincott Blvd., Burton, MI 48519; Pastor Kim Metzer officiating. Interment immediately following the service at The Assyrian Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday. Memorial Contributions may be made to The Assyrian Cemetery or Open Door United Methodist Church, in Mae’s memory.
Mae was born in Flint, MI on April 18, 1924, daughter of the late Ephram and Julia (Badal) Eshoo. She was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1942. Mae earned an Associate's Degree in Bookkeeping from Baker Business College in 1944. She was employed at the Genesee County Courthouse from 1944-1946. Mae married George Solomon on October 5, 1946 in Flint, MI. They had two daughters, Lynda and Suzanne. Mae was an organist at the Assyrian Presbyterian Church and the Hungarian Church for many years. Mae worked in two family businesses until she and George retired in 1984. After retirement, she was a bookkeeper for The Village Florist in Flushing, MI until 1987. Mae enjoyed playing the piano, gardening specializing in roses, was an expert cook, especially making traditional Assyrian dishes. Mae loved being with her family, vacationing on Sugar Island for many years, traveling extensively in Europe and Asia.
Mae is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (John) Howell; niece, Julie (Rick Franklin) Sargis; cousins, several nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ephram and Julia Eshoo; husband, George Solomon; daughter, Lynda Solomon and sister, Bertha Sargis.
The family would also like to thank dear friend Bryan Rubenstein for his loving support and beautiful floral arrangements he sent her each month that brightened up her day.
The family would like to extend a very sincere thank you to the many home health aides who took care of Mae, especially Kathy and Cheryl who provided wonderful care and aides Shawntrell, Latriece, and Teresa for their compassionate care. Their dedication and support were very much appreciated by the family.
The family also is so appreciative of all the staff at Heartland ProMedica Hospice Care especially, Ronda, Sarah, Margie, Cindy, Melinda and Dr. Van Wingen.
The family would also like to sincerely thank Dr. Paul Karr Jr., M.D. and his staff for their continued care, guidance and support throughout the years.
