Amesbury, Robert Francis, of Flushing, and Lighthouse Point, age 99, passed away peacefully Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026 in Deerfield Beach, Florida surrounded by his children.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Flushing with Fr. Christian Salata as celebrant. Burial of cremated remains will follow Mass at St. Robert Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Father Jacobs Education Trust Fund.

Robert “Bob” was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 5, 1927, the son of Francis and Elsie (Roesch) Amesbury. Bob proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and was honorably discharged as a corporal in 1946. He graduated from Saint Louis University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering. He married Jacqueline D. Brookshire on September 27, 1952, in St. Louis, Missouri. She preceded him in death on November 28, 2012, after 60 years of marriage. Bob was employed by General Motors, which brought him and his family to Michigan in 1969. He retired from GM Service Parts Operations as Personnel Director in 1987 after 37 years. Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, golfing and cross-country skiing. He loved grilling and getting together with family and friends. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending winters in Florida. Bob was a faithful member of St. Robert Catholic Church. He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Bob will be remembered for his calm, gentle strength and his smile that reflected his lifelong positivity which drew people to him.

Bob is survived by his children, Barbara Sinanian of Flushing, Laura Amesbury of Grand Blanc, Stephen and Victoria (Nevins) Amesbury of Lincolnshire, IL; grandchildren, Robbie (fiancée Elizabeth Revis), Andrew and Rebecca Amesbury, Michael and Elizabeth (Krilich) Sinanian; great-grandchildren, Leo and Gemma. He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant son and his parents.
