Richard F. Pekarek, age 90, passed away on November 28, 2020 in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 from 4pm - 8pm with Rosary Service at 7pm at Hill Funeral Home - 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Leronio Vodivodi on December 2, 2020 at 10:30am at Holy Family Catholic Church - 11804 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan. Richard was born on May 15, 1930 in Flint, Michigan to the late Frank and Bozena Pekarek. His parents came from Czechoslovakia. Richard graduated from Central High in 1948 and GMI in 1953 with his Bachelors. He served stateside during the Korean War from 1952-1955 in the United States Army. Richard taught math at Aberdean Proving Grounds, Maryland while in service. He worked at GM, Buick, OPEL, Isuzu, BOC, as a Reliability Engineer for 40 years. He married fellow Eastsider, Joyce V. Reynolds on September 27, 1958. They raised three children. Richard was a devote Catholic whose faith guided him; God, wife, children, family, friends is what he lived by. He was a life long train enthusiast because of his father and grandfather worked at Flint Railroad. He was a member of Michigan Association of Railroad Passengers. He was a lifelong piano player. Richard loved big bands, Broadway musicals, and traveling with family. His greatest pleasure was dancing and spending time with his wife of 62 years, Joyce. He was the one you could always count on to do the right thing. He will be greatly missed and eternally loved. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Joyce; children: Kathryn, Tracy L., Richard (Tracy) Pekarek; grandchildren: Raquel, Jenna, Carson, Brady, and Austin. |
