Mark and his wife, Christie, were married 48 years. They had 2 beautiful girls, Jamie (Todd Holmes) and Brooke (Josh Janish); and 7 amazing grandchildren: Tessa, Preston and Katie Holmes, Trenton Colby, Peyton Kirk, Trevor and Parker Newton.
Mark Cottrill was a very dear man, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a great friend to so many, too numerous to mention, who truly loved him.
Mark was a very happy person with a special sense of humor. If anyone has ever shared a meal with Mark they heard his standard “that was a good snack, now what’s for dinner?” Mark always had a smile for anyone he met. He never met a stranger.
Mark recently said that there were 3 things that had given him a happy and full life. They were, first, his faith and his relationship with our Heavenly Father, Jehovah. His family, whom he dearly loved and was so proud of. And, going to the U.P. to hang out, hunt and fish with his buddies at the “shack”. He loved it up there.
Mark genuinely loved life. He especially enjoyed anything he could do outdoors. Working, canoeing, boating, hunting and fishing, even mowing his lawn, which he took great pride in. He loved the ministry and sharing Bible truths with others, and was a very faithful man. And he loved camping and spending time with his family. There were also many, many good times spent with good friends.
So, we will all cherish our memories of Mark until we see him again in the beautiful paradise earth, where he will once again enjoy life, but, without the struggles, pain or suffering.
Recently, a very dear friend perfectly expressed what Mark was all about. He said “one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met.”
He truly was.
