HUNT, Wayne Robert – of Burton, MI, age 76, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023. A Funeral Service will be held 12 PM Friday, January 6, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Dr. Lance R. Fischer, III and Rev. David Miller co-officiating. Interment, with Military Honors, will be held 12:30 PM, January 10, 2023 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Thursday, January 5, 2023 and 11 AM-12 PM Friday, January 6, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home.
Wayne was born in Flint, MI on June 7, 1946, son of the late Daniel and Ada (Rathbun) Hunt. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1965-1969. Wayne married Ruth Ann Royce on December 2, 1966 at Bible Baptist Church by Rev. David Miller. He retired from General Motors in 2000 after 34 years of service. Wayne was a member and deacon of Bible Baptist Church where he also taught Junior Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking car rides and spending time with his family. Wayne had a very outgoing personality and he never met a stranger.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Hunt; 2 daughters, Carrie (Tom) Shinabarger and Kathy Barker; 7 grandchildren, Michelle (John) LePard, Amanda (Amanda Kern) Shinabarger, Heather (Montez) Newkirk, Heidi Shinabarger, Taylor (Brian) Ellison, Jacob Barker and Eric (Kristina) Florance; 17 great-grandchildren; canine companion, Dusty; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Ada Hunt; 3 brothers, Cecil Hunt, Jerry Hunt and Jim Hunt; great-grandson, Jayden Shinabarger; parents-in-law, Carl and Ruth Royce; son-in-law, Jim Barker and brother-in-law, Robert Royce.
