MORITZ, Robert Cleo – of Clio, age 90, died Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Hurley Medical Center. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County or the Clio VFW Honor Guard.
Robert was born June 2, 1932 in Flint, Michigan to the late Cleo and Mary (Gripp) Moritz. He grew up in Flint, Michigan and graduated from Flint Central High School with the class of 1950. He served his country in the US Army from 1952 to 1954. On June 27, 1960 he married Janet Abeare and she preceded him in death on April 1, 2020. Prior to his retirement, Robert worked for GM as a Fork Lift Driver at Buick City with 30 years of service. He was a member of the VFW Post #1452 and served on the Honor Guard for several years. Robert loved animals, walking, Gardening and golfing. He enjoyed fishing on Sage Lake where his family spent time in the summer. However, his greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren. The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to the Hurley ER and ICU staff for going above and beyond.
Surviving are: Children, Mary (Mike) Moritz, Joanie (Gary) Holland, Robert (Tammy) Moritz Jr.; Grandchildren, Nicole (Zach) Brown, Jayme Fleming, Sharon Moritz, Gary Holland; Siblings, Donald Moritz, Irene (Robert) Lincoln; several brother in laws, sister in laws, nieces and nephews; Special Friend, Jim (Jill) Henige.
