Ronald John Polcyn

Born: 11/5/1946
Died: 10/3/2025
Age: 78
Community: Celebration of Life at the Perry Township Hall, MI

Ronald John Polcyn, age 78, of Perry, Michigan, was called home on October 3, 2025.

Born November 5, 1946, in Hamtramck, Michigan, Ronald was the son of Florence Polcyn and Eugene Wieczorek. On October 6, 1960, he was adopted by his stepfather, Theodore Polcyn, who raised him alongside Florence.

On June 4, 1966, Ronald married his best friend and the love of his life, Barbara, at St. Gerald Catholic Church in Farmington. The two shared 59 wonderful years filled with devotion, laughter, adventure, and a deep love for the family they created.

Ronald graduated from Farmington High School and went on to study at R.E.T.S. Electronic Schools in Detroit. A hard worker all his life, he worked as a commercial insulator and even ran his own computer business for a time. After retiring at 57, he found great joy in volunteering at the Steam Railroading Institute in Owosso for 12 years. Whether he was working in the back shop, helping with computer systems, or shoveling coal for the North Pole Express on the Pere Marquette 1225, Ron took pride in every task and loved being part of something that brought happiness to others.

A jack of all trades and a man who could fix just about anything, he built the living room and kitchen in his and Barbara's home, as well as the kitchens in both of his sons' homes. He was always the first to lend a helping hand and never expected anything in return. He loved fishing at the pond on his property and took great delight in watching kids reel in their first fish there. Ronald and Barbara loved to travel in their fifth wheel, exploring new places together and creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Ronald had a deep love for his John Deere tractor, MSU football and basketball, and, of course, the Detroit Lions, no matter how many times they broke his heart. He loved good conversation and never met a stranger; he could talk to anyone, anywhere, about anything. Most of all, he loved his family. The many parties and gatherings by the pond were some of his happiest times, surrounded by the people he loved most.

Preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Florence Polcyn, Ronald is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Polcyn; sons Daniel (Julie) Polcyn, Matt Polcyn, and Jeffery (Heather) Polcyn; granddaughters Maggie (Cole) Armbruster and Kenzie Polcyn; brother Tom (Susan) Polcyn; and sister Marrianne (Bruce) Reeve, as well as many nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Ronald will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on November 9, 2025, at the Perry Township Hall.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ronald's name to the National Kidney Foundation.
